WV Award for Excellence in Academic Advising

The West Virginia Award for Excellence in Academic Advising is presented to a full-time academic adviser who demonstrates excellence in academic advising, a commitment to advisees at the undergraduate levels and who significantly and positively impacts the education, personal and professional development and success of their advisees.

Celebrating Excellence in Advising

This award is presented as part of the West Virginia Academic Advising State Conference to recognize exemplary academic advising and as encouragement to all advisers to persist in their efforts to help students achieve their academic, personal and professional goals.

    Nomination Process

    Nominations may be submitted by students, colleagues or supervisors. Advisers may also self nominate.

  2. Late Spring/Early Summer

    Selection Process

    The selection committee is comprised of academic advisers from various West Virginia higher education institutions.  The committee will review all submissions and look for advisers who demonstrate outstanding merit and examples of high-quality, impactful academic advising.

    Please note: the committee understands that advising caseloads, conditions, resources and more vary considerably across the state. Advisers from small and large institutions alike are encouraged to apply.

    2025 State Advising Conference

    The WV Award for Excellence in Academic Advising will be presented during the WV Academic Advising State Conference in September.
