Winter Intersession

Winter Intersession is an accelerated academic term that runs from December 22, 2025, to January 8, 2026. Students can earn up to five credits during this time through fully online, asynchronous courses. This term is designed to help students maintain academic momentum, stay on track for graduation, explore new subjects, or gain hands-on skills they may not have had time to pursue during regular semesters.

Students can use Winter Intersession to:

  • Complete a required course
  • Explore new topics and subjects
  • Gain practical workplace skills
  • Accelerate degree progress
  • Balance heavy spring and fall schedules

Courses this year include topics like AI in the workplace, Excel, global sustainability, fitness and wellness, design for communication, Hollywood history and more.

Explaining the Enrollment Process to Students:

  • Students need to complete and submit the  Winter Intersession Registration Request Form so the WVU Online team can register them for their desired courses.
  • Due to the rigor and intensity of the courses, students can take no more than two classes totaling five credit hours.

Key Dates and Deadlines:

  • Last chance to register: December 18, 2025, by 4 p.m. ET
  • Classes begin: December 22, 2025.
  • Last day for students to drop courses: December 26, 2025
    • Dropping after this date results in a 100% course charge for the student
  • Last day to withdraw with a "W": January 2, 2026
