House Bill 4919 was signed into law and became effective July 1.
The provision indicates some students who lose Promise because of their academic performance can reapply at another date for Second Chance Promise Renewal after having reestablished eligibility requirements. The link to the full bill can be found here.
Currently, “eligible students” are defined as first-time PROMISE recipients in 2023-24 and beyond.
Other important caveats apply, and advisers and students are encouraged to read the full description of Second Chance Promise Renewal requirements.
Additional details will be made available by the State in late Fall 2024.
