Professional conferences are a great way to network, discover new ideas, meet new colleagues, and learn new techniques to enhance the work we do. The NACADA annual conference is happening October 27-October 30, and 26 advisers across the Morgantown and Beckley campuses are attending. WVU advisers are not only attending the conference, though – we are also contributing. Here are some quick WVU highlights from the conference:
- Marilyn Munzer won a competitive scholarship to attend the national conference.
- Dr. Samm Jusino is hosting a poster session called “Conquering Difficult Conversations in Academic Advising: A Framework.” Dr. Jusino presented this material to WVU academic advisers as a professional development opportunity this August.
- Dr. Cathy Manley and Hilary Woodrum are presenting “Healthcare Beyond Doctors and Nurses: Opening Doors through Proactive Parallel Planning.”
- Dr. Nettie Freshour is presenting “Utilizing BRIGHT to Support Academic Advisors and Enhance Advising Training.”
Please be patient with many of us when sending emails and Teams notes. The conference will conclude Wednesday, October 30.
