|

Welcome back! As the new academic year begins, here are a few things to keep in mind for the months ahead.

AAC Updates

First and foremost, please make sure to browse our website for academic and advising updates, professional development opportunities and fun get-togethers on and off campus.

Find all upcoming events on the WVU calendar and on the Key Dates and Events tab on our website.

WVU Updates

Please also note, some WVU processes have changed.

Networking + New Adviser Updates

Network! We have a lot of great opportunities to meet your colleagues at social and professional development events throughout the academic year.

And you may recognize more new faces this year as advising has grown. More than a dozen new primary role advisers have been hired in recent months. For our new colleagues, welcome to WVU! Please make sure new advisers sign up to receive our Message of the Week!

Professional Development Opportunities

Advisers have unprecedented access to professional development and conferencing this academic year, and we hope you will take advantage of all of it!  Be sure to keep up with

Professional development opportunities are listed on our calendar.  This fall, we are focusing on relationship building and gaining a better understanding of our students’ needs.

The AAC also sponsors a free, virtual half-day state advising conference.  Submissions have closed but check out last year’s topics and get a sense of what may be coming up next.

WVU advisers also participate in NACADA conferences. This year’s conference is in Pittsburgh! Morgantown campus advisers will be able to Get on the Bus to the October conference, if their department is sponsoring conference registration. Be sure to take advantage of this great opportunity to network with your colleagues. As always, please reach out to advisinghelp@mail.wvu.edu to connect and ask questions.
